The Ladies currently play in National Challenge South East 1
Camberley Ladies are currently preparing themselves for the season ahead and are loking for new players experienced or not!! If you would like to come along and join some enthusiastic ladies for some rugby and fitness then pop down to Watchettes Recreation Ground on Wednesdays at 19:15 to meet the team! Contact Sarah on sarah.sanderson@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk or on 07827 889470 and we can look out for you!
Our aim as a team is to play competitive rugby whilst developing all players. This is managed by ensuring that all members feel part of the whole squad, have equal opportunity to develop and enjoy their time playing our great sport!

THIS SEASON
This season we are playing in National Challenge South East 1 and are hoping for a strong season following our entry into this league. Our focus is to build on the development of the team by increasing individuals performance and the overall ability to work as a unit. A main focus for Camberley this year is to step up our levels of fitness and increase our squad size. Following a number of pre-season friendlies, we start our league campaign on 21st September.
COACHING
This season we have Rhys Griffiths as our head coach. Rhys joined the squad last year and faced a tough task of a team who had lost several players to premiership sides and the introduction of new players who had not yet picked up a rugby ball. Despite this, over the season the standard of rugby improved and despite the demotion we are optimistic about the forthcoming season. At the annual awards evening Rhys gave mention to the new players to the club including Nikky for an excellent start to rugby and as a team we will aim to improve on the platform we have developed heading into the new season. On occasions when Rhys is unavailable Andrew Jackson can often be seen to assist on the coaching side of things which is greatly appreciated by the whole team.

Head Coach
Rhys Griffiths
Rhys is our great leader and mentor- so what he says goes. A former player at Camberley, he has now taken up the mantle of coaching the ladies team. He goes out with Shaun the Sheep and works for Sky Sports- so we expect that coverage of our games will be televised very soon....

Sarah Sanderson
Captain; Prop
One of recent football converts, for Sarah the switch is now complete. A season into her rugby career has seen various highlights, numerous social gatherings and an introductory tour on a pig farm - where the only place to take a shower was the pig trough.
Her main aim this season is to play some rugby, score a try (that looks good) and to increase awareness of the benefits of alcohol whilst avoiding AA
Sarah Foley
Flanker
Originally playing for Camberley as a winger she moved to flanker so that she could do more tackling. Whilst we have several Sarahs, Foley was the first and therefore has the right to be known only by her surname. A fearsome tackler whose slight frame belies her on field ferocity, she is also well known for her inability to play vegetables!
Sarah-Jane Carter
Chairperson/Second Row
A former winger, SJ moved to the second row and took to it like a duck to water- getting best forward after just one season. A demon tackler on the pitch, SJ likes to wear a knee support to make her look hard. She is also our level-headed Committee Chairwoman and can always be relied upon to sort us out when things descend into chaos.
Debbie Haydon
Secretary; Centre
Inside Centre Debbie is one of the longest playing members of the squad, despite this she shows no sign of slowing down and enjoying semi retirement in the forwards. A formidable attacking and defensive player, with intercept tries and crunching tackles a speciality, Debbie is the keystone of the squad.
Lisa Goldsmith
Sponsorship; No 10
A former winger, Lisa has taken on the position of number 10 with relish. However, her talents on the pitch pale in comparison to her skill in obtaining us sponsorship whilst drunk! Keep up the good work!
Kiersty Sims
Social Secretary; Winger
Another one of our new converts, Kiersty , or 'Gear Stick' (it's easier to pronounce) took up rugby after being a WAG of one of the male players. Showing that she can teach them a thing or two, she can normally be found sprinting down the wing...or breaking her fingers.
Siobhan
Fixtures Secretary; No. 9; Flanker
Siobhan is going out with the head coach so we have to say nice things about her, to avoid being benched. Strangely our coach keeps calling her Sean, which makes us think that he knows something about her that we don't. Siobhan is an awesome tackler but don't stand next to her when she returns from holiday if you happen to be pasty.
Bev Weeks
Flanker; press
The 18th teacher (or so it seems!) to join our fold, Bev has already made her mark as a flanker. She is also being trained up as a hooker, ready for next season. Bev also has a secret history of being a netball player- but we can forgive this in time.
Charlie Wildman; Hooker/Prop
With one of the most accurate surnames ever, Charlie is also one of our most versatile forwards, threatening from every position in the pack. Charlie's favourite part of the game is kick off, when she can indulge in her favourite pastime of hunting down which ever poor lamb has the misfortune to catch the ball , apart from perhaps belching which she does with alarming regularity. She gave birth this year and we don't expect it to be long before we see mini Wildman sporting a pair of rugby boots..
Denise Walsh
Although Beastie has defected to Hove we still have an honorary place for her on the team. Denise is known as the Beast, Beastie, Sneeze, Goat and Lemming amongst other things. Her most frequent moniker of Beast is nothing her ability to down a pint, which to be frank is rather scary. Rather it is due to the age induced deafness of an ex-captain who misheard her first name.
Pia Weller
Prop
Coming from Sweden, Pia is our token foreign import, usually found with Swedish horns on her head. Although she originally played for Aldershot, she came to Camberley a couple of seasons ago and hasn't been allowed to leave. Props are very hard to come by so she will never be allowed to retire and we have hidden her passport.
Alison Bethwaite
Winger
Alison is one of our speedy wingers so don't give her any space. She also has a great tackle on her to boot. Like Ruth, she is medically trained and has been threatened with violence if she gets injured. Along with Foley and Emily is going for the award for the most show of emotion on the pitch.
Kate Chapman
No 8
Kate is one of our power players and has been our solid number eight for centuries. Rather rudely, she injured herself when getting out of a dinghy and is now hobbling about the place. She has 1000 teddies, all of whom have personalities and her best friend is a turtle called Terrence.
Ruth O'Brien
Flanker, Second Row
One of our medical experts, we don't allow Ruth to get injured...or at least take it in turns with Ali. In her spare time, Don Rufio also runs her own cult and is always on the lookout for new members. Please be prepared to give her all your money and become addicted to facebook- of which she is the major shareholder.
Amanda
Treasurer; Second Row
Amanda tried to give up playing and move to France. Fortunately we located her and the authorities dragged her back. An accomplished second row, she likes to bring some sophistication to the team. She can be found drinking wine post-match, instead of beer like the rest of us animals.
Dionne Mack-Jones
Second Row
Dee started with us as a second row but is so versatile that she can play several positions in the pack. Always playing with passion and fire, many have noticed that Dee is never afraid to get stuck in as she crashes the ball upfield.
Nicola York
A new player to Camberley, schoolteacher Nicola has been fearless and has started her first match after only a couple of traning sessions. She has taken to the front row with relish and we are not about to let her go! She has bust her nose 45 times but we try not to stare too much....
Emily
Full Back
Emily can normally be found tearing down the wing- don't give this girl any space! She is currently in competition with Sarah Foley for who can cry the loudest when injured. We give marks on range and style. Emily is also a silent assassin and turns into a crazy fool when drunk.
Kerry Johnson
Prop
Kerry, or 'Muffin' tried to retire but we found her. Nobody leaves us. She is currently trying to evade us by escaping to St Kitts but it's only a matter of time. If we have a problem, if noone else can help, and if we can find her, maybe we can hire...the Muffin.
Helen Blundell
Flanker, currently at Uni - will help when desperate!! Which is now...so if you are reading this Helen, please quit uni!

1. End of Season party/BBQ
Date: Friday 8th June 7pm

2. Tuesday night quiz at the Sub
Date: Every first Tuesday of the month (so first on 5th June) 8pm
Location: The Royal Standard Pub, Frimley
Details: We are going to get some sponsorship from the Sub this year, so want to give them some business. They run a pub quiz on Tuesday evenings (£2 per team) so it would be good if we could get a team together once a month. Turn up if you can make it every first Tuesday of the month.

Location: Meet in town at 2.30, the sub at 4.30 and then back into town in the evening

AFTER-MATCH SHIRTS are to be worn!
Bring any potential players along!
