Your Web Site

This new site has been developed in response to member's requests for a more user friendly and timely web site. It has been designed to be attractive to look at, easy to navigate and most importantly easy to get your information on-line and visible to all club members.  The Executive Committee hope that in time it will become one of the principal communication means for club members. Apart from, that is, discussing matters over a beer in the bar!

To add information to the new web site we have an infrastructure of section editors who upload material onto the web pages. An on-line editing suite is used to format the material and each section editor can only modify the pages for which he or she is responsible.  Because we want to avoid the situation where there may be a bottleneck or a single person responsible for one set of pages, we have deliberately avoided having one section editor per team. With the pyramid hierarchy we have enacted, every web page can be accessed by at least 3 people and in most cases 4.

Your feedback is welcomed and will be used to improve the site. A blog facility will be added to the team pages shortly. The Minis are testing this facilty right now. We are also looking at the range of free picture library sites to see what is best for us. Again the Minis are doing the testing and the most appropriate package for our purposes will be added in due course.

How to get your info published

We want to publish as much as possible - no matter how apparently trivial - about the club, club members, teams, their results, individual players and their progress, particularly those who try out for representative honours so that everybody hears the news - or at least reads it. Simply email your info in and it will be posted for you. You should expect the material to be posted within 48 hours

For the Youth Squads, email to the following address:

 youthwebpages@camberleyrugby.org.uk

and copy it to:

 webmanager@camberleyrugby.org.uk

For the Adult teams, News, Whats on and the Admin pages email to the following address:

 adultwebpages@camberleyrugby.org.uk

and copy it to:

Preparing Material for Publication

To help the Section Editors upload material quickly and easily please send them text and pictures separately. Use a text editor such as Notepad to write the words as the text it produces contains no formatting and can be pasted directly into the on-line editing suite.

The longest side of a pictures should not exceed 700 pixels and the resolution should be 72 dpi. The resolution is particularly important as the higher the resolution the bigger the file size and the longer it takes to open the image. Do bear in mind that 72 dpi is the typical screen resolution and the picture will not look any better with a higher resolution
