Event Update Watchetts Fair – Saturday 5th July @ Watchetts Park (Camberley RFC) 12-4pm |
Season 2007/2008 By Sarah Jane Randall (29th April 08) For me this season has been a huge challenge. When I took over in September 2007 there were no girls registered as playing for the girls squads apart from me! Now at the end of the season we have about 10 registered girls! I am very proud of the girls so far. They train hard and they all get on well which is a must for rugby. I am very big on team spirit and these girls have got plenty of it! Most of them having never played rugby before in their lives, they played well last Sunday. The girls season, however, is always a lot longer than the boys season with 7s tournaments playing a big part in the finish. The girls still have two or three big events to go before they finish for a well-earned break before starting summer training. We would love it if you could come and support us at these events: · Sunday 11th May @ Dorking RFC: London & South East 7s · Saturday 5th July @ Camberley RFC: Watchetts Fair So all that remains for me to do is to say a big thank you to the girls and good luck at the 7s! I’d also like to say a big thank you to the following people, without whom this season wouldn’t have been so successful: Dan Burnell, Alison Burnell, Steve Jones, Dave Harvey, Tom Hazelden. |

A Look to the Future By Sarah Jane Randall Next season, I won’t be around as much as I hope to be off to uni! So Dan will be taking over as Head Coach. However you can’t get rid of me that easily! I will remain as squad manager and assistant coach. Recruitment is a big part of our summer as a coaching team at Camberley Rugby Girls Squads. We will be targeting schools for taster session and afterschool clubs in July and hopefully in September, so if you’d like us to come to your school please contact me. We also hope to hold a girls development week so watch this space for more info! |
