London & South East 7s

Plate Final

Loss

The day of the London & South East 7s had finally come and we turned up ready to go - ish! I was refereeing so Dan was left to coach.  In the end our girls ended up joining with other teams to get better games.

Chloe Burnell and Ellie Boatman playing for Mitcham at U12s, and setting up pretty much all their tries!  Both girls played brilliantly and Camberley should be very proud to have them representing them.

Rachael Smith, Alex Rawcliffe and Samantha Smith played for Guildford Gazelles and had a good run-about!  Very proud of all the girls.  Special mention must go to Sam and her amazing tackling!  This was her first ever game of rugby!

Michaela Whitcombe played for Central Wield and personally I am so proud of her.  She went into a team on her own and managed to be played in every single match!  She should be very proud of herself for her brilliant display of rugby!  Her team got to the semi-finals with her help and her amazing tackling!!

So it has been a good end to our season and we are looking to come back next season bigger and better!  Watch out Surrey!

Guildford Gazelles

Loss

10-20

Today was the day that the girls had been working towards for the last half a season.  When we turned up we found we had only four girls able to participate - unfortunately Caz, in her excitement of playing for the first time, put her hand through the glass window of a door, not wanting to waste time opening it!  Next time Caz wait til the match is over to be getting frustrated!!

A special thank you must go to Guildford Gazelles for lending us some players, particularly to Becky and Em, our only try scorers, and to Sophie, Charlie, Rebecca and Steph for playing for us!

The match started a bit tentative from Camberley with Guildford running around the outside of our shaky defence to score their first try.

At the restart, the Camberley girls did step up and play some rugby!  Considering that most of  the Camberley girls had never played before, and that most of the team hadn't trained together (due to the lending of opposition players), I believe the girls didn't do too badly - at least they have now had a taster of what's to come in the Dorking 7s!

Special thanks must go to Steve Burnell for coaching from the sideline whilst I had to referee, and to Chloe Burnell who captained the side very well at the age of 12!

Well done to all the girls involved and we will be looking ahead to Dorking 7s now on the 11th May.  Any support available will be appreciated!

Also thank you to Dave Harvey and the Under13's for the lending of their kit!
